Hi Everyone. Sorry for the delay on this week's blog entry! Daddy is-a-slackin'!
Colin has been doing better. He's not had any bradycardias this week, and his apnic episodes are becoming fewer. He'll still be on his monitors for a while, but that's okay. Still peace of mind.
He has a visit with the pediatrician today for follow-up and to get weighed. He's probably 8+ pounds now and about 19". So he's getting there, albeit slowly. At least his new born outfits are starting to get a little small!
He's doing a little better with his reflux, though he still likes to vomit when given the chance! This is "normal" for a lot of babies, so we just go with the flow. His big thing this week continues to be his gassiness/bowels. He actually has had some diarrhea (thanks for the details, right)? This is a concern for babies, so he'll get evaluated for that today. Probably something in mom's diet? It's not chronic, thank goodness, so hopefully not a big issue.
I also am slacking this week on uploading some photos. Got some cute ones that I'll post this week. Busy doesn't describe being a new parent! My goodness! But it's the best busy I could have ever imagined!

wow, i can't believe fuzzyhead is 8 pounds! i'm so thankful to hear he is doing well! i hope (but don't expect) that you are getting a little more sleep?!
i was just thinking today on my way home from work (with the top down on my new mustang, btw *!smile!) about when i prayed for you as you were going into delivery. i think that is an experience i will never forget. i'm so thankful that i called at THEE perfect time right before you went in...thus i was able to pray while fuzzy was being born! it's so comforting to know that you had a whole network of loved ones praying for you at the exact SAME time! it's such an honor to have had the opportunity to be a part of that!
and now, fuzzy is 8 pounds...Hallelujah! i'm just so thankful that God has been so extremely good!
when i come down to visit, we'll see if we can get that fuzzy hair to stand straight up on end...colin gets the first spin in my droptop!

I don’t think you were slacking Bobby when your posting did not appear exactly on Sunday. We all appreciate your weekly devotion to writing but really, it’s no obligation on your part. You got your priorities and your priorities all relate to your Colin, your work, your Ania, and your Colin again and we completely understand when you need some time away from the computer.
Just because Mission Impossible Part I (bringing Colin home) was accomplished does not mean that Mission Impossible Part 2 is any easier or less impossible. Being a parent on ongoing basis is, my friends, the biggest ongoing accomplishment ever. I know that you already know it, but it’s nice to point out that some of us traveled or are traveling on the some boat, therefore there is plenty of genuine empathy going around...
Your Colin is special in many different ways, but the biggest one is his will to live and live well. No wonder HE has chosen you for parents, knowing that there will be no room for slacking or overlooking, and there will be a constant constructive concern on your part with no end to it.
Is there any time that we can truly say that there is too much worry and concern for our children? I ask myself that very question many times in my parenting career and as of today I have no definite answer, but some understanding that I am ready to accept...
The biggest God’s gift for us is a life itself, but there is another gift that follows, which is a gift of free will, so we can be free to curve our destiny in the very unique way under watchful eyes of our Creator. God does not often whisper to our ears the ready answers, but rather gives us wisdom and strength to search for one. Is surrendering to God’s will equal to passive acceptance of our realities or is it the very fight to preserve that gift in the name of God that ultimately defines our purpose here on Earth? God gives us enough fuel to run our own engine, He is gracious this way but then, He as every loving parent would, expects us to use it wisely and sensibly.
So going back to the original question, is there too much of our parental intervention in the lives of our children? Or... we are just simply designed to parent to best of our abilities if not more, which most of us do, only some of us don’t. Yes, the majority does not always rule and the majority can be at times wrong, but the majority of us are the best people while parenting even when rest of our lives leave a lot to desire. The majority of us do love and worry, in fact over worry about our children... but it’s our JOB designated by our God, Who as Parent outperforms us anyway...
One more thing my friends, God’s children are also us -- poor struggling parents whose well-being is in the center of His consideration and love. Loving and worrying too much exists only in our minds, it’s never been with limits when pertaining to God and heavenly wisdom.
So I salute you my dear friends for your role in Colinek’s life and ask God to offer you His parental guidance,
