What a week it was! We started off with not so good news. Colin has been having more trouble than before when it comes to vomiting and difficulty with poohing. So he paid a visit to his pediatric gastroenterologist who once again increased the dosage on his medication (for reflux) and violated his backside in another attempt to loosen his sphincter. Let's just say the doctor wasn't so gentle. Ania and I were both a little upset, but maybe it needed to be done? Not our area of expertise, so we just went with it. Needless to say, it may have worked, as he seems to be back to producing with less discomfort.
Vomiting is a regular thing now. We're lucky if he goes 12 hours without throwing up, and often times it's more frequent than that. He has such a strong gag reflex, and when his reflux gets in the back of his throat, he stands no chance. We're amazed that he can even grow as it seems nothing stays down. Poor guy. It's tough watching him suffer and there's not a whole lot we can do for him. They say he'll outgrow this stage, but it is no doubt slowing down his growth and development for someone who has a lot of catching up to do in the first place. We'll make it through though.
But on to more exciting topics! Saturday Colin went to his first party! His unlce (Mikey) and close family friend (Stephanie) are graduating from Wake Forest and Charlotte, respectively (congrats again guys)! So a lot of family and friends gathered at Stephanie's house. Colin was the life of the party - dancing, eating - and not once did he poop his pants! That's my guy! Okay, so there was no dancing - but he did eat. Momma's milk, of course.
Sunday was really special! Mommy's first Mother's Day! We went for our first family dinner outing! Nothing fancy, just good eats. Colin paid - how nice of him! Afterward, we made our way to the mall for some Mother's Day shopping. Colin did so good the entire time. No fussies. Just eating, sleeping or observing quietly! We couldn't have asked for a better time. Colin really is such a sweet baby. He doesn't get fussy unless he's hungry (don't we all?) or he's in discomfort (again, don't we all)? Other than that, he's a happy little baby. We are so, so lucky to have him and he brings unbelievable joy to our lives.
Lastly, happy (now belated) Mother's Day to all you Moms out there!

Let me tell you, I spent some time with Mr. Colin this past weekend, now when he is definitely more into boy-girl relationships, and I am pleased to report that he is everything that a girl could dream of.
For those girls who are really into looks, I would say Colin is a hottie...Imagine a little Bobby ‘spiced up’ with his mother’s features and charm. When it comes to a man’s substance, it needs to be said that Mr. Colin is an intelligent, observant, no-nonsense and a very laid back kind of guy.
Women in general do prefer guys who are relaxed, natural, and who perform best under pressure because they are not concerned about the opinions of others so much. In other words men who are called ‘cool cats’ don’t have to impress anybody unless it’s the girl of their dreams. These kinds of men usually have enough confidence, so reassurance in the form of public acceptance or praise and compliments are not necessary for them to feel fulfilled and content.
Mr. Colin IS such a Man who has got a lot inner strength which comes with some baggage of course, but makes him look at small stuff as small stuff only.... Besides, he has been through some real life situations, some would say life and death situations and he came out of them victorious. What can give a man more confidence than that?
Mr. Colin takes the real issues with pettiness, as stuff that do not matter. And to be completely honest with you, when he had chosen not to smile for a while I understood why, I was with him on that and respected the dude’s need for cooling time, time to contemplate Life and time to regain some confidence in Life, and finally getting more positive again and seeing more reasons to smile about...
So my friends, my second encounter with our Miracle Boy has just opened new doors of HOPE and gave me absolute certainty in his sense of happiness which is being manifested by his graceful embrace of new environments full of curiosity and attention of unfamiliar adults ad children.
Thanks God for the time spent in company of Colin, his parents and his relatives.
Aldona, I will have to say that's the cutest and sweetest entry of yours to date! I really enjoyed reading that. You're very sweet and kind. Thank you for the early morning smile - great way to start my day!
