Thank you to everyone for your excellent recommendations for diaper rash! Many of you contacted us about this, with a variety of suggestions. We managed to get Colin's bum under control, aided by the fact that his poopies slowly improved too. Not perfect poopies - but better.
Colin is doing very well. He is growing since having the tube placed, but continues to go at his own slow pace, which is fine. I'm trying to savor the fact that he's still small enough to handle easily, and he's still not mobile or strong enough yet to get away from a kiss-attack! So, I'm doing better with enjoying him as he is, instead of wishing for growth, growth and more growth. It'll come, just slower than expected. On that note, Mr. Man is 1 ounce shy of 12 pounds now - as of today. And he's pushing 2 feet in length, though not quite there yet.
His want to eat hasn't changed, as he's still a stingy eater. So at least half, and sometims the entire feeding, gets put in the tube. Unfortunately for Colin, this means he'll have to endure yet another surgery on Sept 15. This time to take out the peg tube, and replace it with a Mic-Key button. This means general anesthesia again. Yuck.
Otherwise, his development to this point is really good. He's becoming more vocal - man can that kid be loud! I laugh thinking back to just a couple months ago when Ania and I were concerned that he would never smile. Well, that prayer was answered. The boy smiles all the time now. He's just so happy, which makes all right with the world. And he's doing better with rolling over now, so we're hoping that sitting up on his own will soon follow.
We still haven't licked his reflux either. There are stretches where we think we're done with vomitting, and then we have several days in a row where Colin reminds us that he can vomit with the best of them!
One major blessing is his sleep pattern. He's now sleeping much better through the night! We still feed him at midnight, but he generally sleeps right through it. And we just got word today that he'll likely only be on his apnea-brady monitor through the end of August. If we avoid any episodes, we'll be able to turn that sucker in. One less thing to deal with.
Sorry no new photos. I'll work on that in the coming days. Be prepared though: he oozes with cuteness! ;-)
