Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This is an extra special Thanksgiving for our family since we now get to share Thanksgivings with Colin! We truly have so much to be thankful for this year. We've been humbled by the love and support from family and friends prior to the arrival of our son. That support, we believe, is a big part of what has allowed and is allowing our son to find a lot of early-life successes.
We got some absolutely great news yesterday, and we had a lot of "firsts". The great news was that Colin's PDA - Patent Ductus Arteriosis (hole in the heart) - spontaneously closed just 2 days after the doctors nearly treated him with medication for it! We think the hole filled up with love from all those around him, both near and far :-) The second big piece of news was that he is tolerating mom's milk well (for now anyway). He's gone a full day with no problems. Now maybe our boy can start packing on the pounds (or in his case, ounces)!
Yesterday was also super-special with a lot of firsts! Mommy and daddy tag-teamed to change Colin's diaper for the first time (just a wet one - he wanted to ease us into it)! We also fed him (via syringe to a tube down into his stomach), and daddy got to hold his son ever so briefly while he transferred him to a scale for weighing and then back into the incubator!!! He looks a little bigger than 1 lb, 6 oz but after holding him, I'm not going to argue with those numbers! He's defiinitely our little feather-weight :-)
Again, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Here's wishing you the best with your families on this special holiday.
Sincerely, Ania, Bobby and Colin
