Cute moniker, Celeste :-)
Sorry to everyone who logs in each morning to get their "Colin fix":-) I got knocked out of my routine this morning since Daddy took pity on Mommy and let her sleep through the night. Colin and I hung out together, and sleep wasn't really on his agenda. Why? Acid reflux. It has improved for sure, but not enough to allow him to consistently rest soundly in between feedings. Instead of his apparent pain, it's now more discomfort. He doesn't cry like before, but grunts and jostles a lot while he attempts to sleep. He coughs fairly frequently too - another sign of reflux. Normal baby stuff for sure, the only difference is how long it may take Colin to truly resolve this compared to a full-term baby. Preemies in particular don't develop much tone in their gastro-esophogeal sphincter which allows the tummy contents to come back up. Regardless, any parent with a baby who refluxes knows this isn't fun for baby or parent. That being said, if this is the worst thing that comes out of Colin's prematurity, we'll take it and run!
Colin had a visit from ocupational therapy on Wednesday. They came out to the house to assess his muscle tone, activity, awareness, etc. He got good grades, and will have weekly visits to track his progress and do activities that will enhance his development. Regarding the lingering potential of cerebral palsy, we won't know that for several months. We won't and don't live in fear of that any more though. We're just enjoying him day-to-day and if that's in the cards for him, we'll do everything we can to help him overcome obstacles. My "gut feeling" tells me he'll avoid this too. Like I've said before, I'm not betting against him! He's proven way too much to this point - the sky is the limit!

Hey Colin!
So you had a "boys night" with your Dad last night? Were you boys up playing cards, games, and telling stories and jokes?
That acid reflux is a real bummer, huh? We hope that each day gets easier and easier for you!!

It seems a little crazy to us too! 4 months? A lot has happened in that time. We are in such a better situation now than then that it's hard to describe! I can't wait to see what the next 4 months brings!
