First Outings

Yesterday we had 2 firsts: Colin's first visit to his pediatrician and our first family walk around the neighborhood! It was a beautiful day out, and we were told by his nurses to add 2 layers beyond what we would normally do for ourselves. We have to protect Colin from illness, but being outside is not a concern. It's people in confined environments that is, especially other little children who are bug-hounds. So we took advantage of the weather and loaded Colin up in his stroller. I took photos on my cell phone which I'll try to download later (Daddy has to guy buy a data cable to do it). But it was such a wonderful time. We were of course concerned about Colin the whole time: too much sun, too little sun, too warm, too cold, is he comfortable, why is he not moving, stay away from that car, stay clear of that loud lawn mower, etc. But we did take a little time to refect too. Ania and I have taken countless walks around our neighborhood in the 7 years we've lived in our home. The walks are good for time together, time to talk and of course, exercise. We've spent so much time during those talks discussing dreams of someday pushing a stroller around the neighborhood too, and here we finally were. It was surreal, and wonderful, and amazing. A dream.
The other "first" was Colin's visit to his pediatrician, who reiterated to us how amazing this little boy is. He called Colin the "poster child" for an all-odds-against start in life to a seemingly normal, healthy boy. He was amazed at how good Colin is doing, and he added that "Colin acted like he was a 36 week old from day 1". I don't know about that, but it was nice to hear anyway. He got a perfect bill of health from his pediatrician.
Colin really is a sweet child, but one thing that really bothers him is his acid reflux. I keep mentioning it, but it's so obvious. Even on medicine and rice cereal, he gets fussy in between feedings, and has spit up and gas. If we could only solve this one main issue, he would literally be a "feed me, change me" crier and that would be it. Thank goodness! Go home reflux - you're not wanted! :-)
