Colin had his hearing screening yesterday. He passed. Now he has no excuses when daddy asks him to mow the yard. I figure the moment he can walk and reach the handle, he can get behind our self-propelled mower and get the job done. Being 2 years old won't be an excuse. He he :-) Only kidding. After all Colin has been through, we'll likely end up being bad parents for letting him get away with so much. Oh well, worse things could happen ;-)
Colin had another surgical consult yesterday as well. For a while, we were wondering if maybe Colin didn't have a hernia after all, but after further evaluation, it is definitely present. Now the question is when to do it. More than likely they'll perform the surgery a couple days prior to him coming home, but there's a chance they'll have him come home first and then do outpatient surgery when his pediatrician feels the time is right.
Mom and I are really excited about this coming weekend! We get to play "house" with Colin. The hospital has a program they call "Rooming In", where they provide basically a mini-apartment that we'll stay in overnight with Colin by our side. Just the 3 of us! Of course, the nurses are right down the hallway and can get to us at the touch of a button. And he'll still be on his heart and respiratory monitors, but otherwise, we'll get a test run of taking care of him "by ourselves". We'll stay there all weekend, friday night until sunday. How exciting! So Mr. Colin is getting close to coming home. We can't wait, and neither can Colin :-)

Happy Valentine's Day Colin. The whole family (especially the girls) are anxious to see you soon.
We love you.
Aunt Nikola and the gang
Happy Valentine's Day to three of you!
Your little Mr. Sunshine is the most 'thoughtful'
Valentine's gift you have given to each other.
A doing well Mr. Sunshine gets to be even bigger
gift-giving day.
Nobody can ever measure up and nothing can
bring a greater joy to your lives than you son.
God is definitely a frontrunner in showing
love and care , so I humbly ask Him today
to watch after you and make your 'reunion'
at home a soon-to-be reality.
Love,
Aldona
ania, did you ever imagine in your early twenties that you would be SO excited that your valentine's weekend outing would be bobby taking you to the hospital to sleep overnight for a couple days? and now, i know that you wouldn't accept all the money in the world to do anything else! that is so awesome...i'm SO happy for you guys!!! i can only imagine how exciting that will be...i bet you'll have a hard time falling asleep! well, once you do catch some zzz's, i know they will be peaceful and filled with dreams of your little fuzzy head!
much love, celeste
Your post actually brought tears to my eyes - I'm SOOO excited for the three of you and I'm impressed they have such a neat program. I've been wondering how you guys would feel, leaving the "security" of the hospital. It will be a nice lesson to learn that you guys can do this - that the three of you can figure out what to do. This is the best present of all.
Happy Valentine's - obviously your cup runneth over today.
Hope you had a very Happy Valentine's Day, Colin!!
Have fun with your Mommy and Daddy this weekend - ALL WEEKEND! How cool is that!!! =) Enjoy!
Love, M&M&B
