No More Fussy-Boy (For Now)

39 weeks gestation today. November 16 (the day Colin was born) seems like such a long time ago. It really has been a blessing to get to know, hold, kiss and love on our little boy during a time when he should still be in mommy's womb. Not many parents get to experience that. Granted, it's been at times extremely difficult given our circumstances, but to meet our baby when he was 1 pound, 6 ounces was special. Not I-want-to-do-it-again special, but special :-)
Chunky Monkey is also seemingly getting over whatever was causing him to be fussy. He's back to being a bottle-devourer, taking back-to-back 40 cc bottles overnight! He is teasing us again with his weight (we're used to this now). Everytime he gets close to the next big milestone (in this case, 3.5 pounds) he decides to not reach that weight for an extra day or two. In fact, he lost 3 tiny grams yesterday. The little turkey ;-)
His reticulocyte count came back yesterday. It was slightly elevated (good) but still not to the levels he needs to prove he is over his anemia. There really isn't much of a concern right now as this is probably just taking longer given Colin's start to life. Being called "super" is usually a great thing, but attaching that name in front of "preemie" isn't. So our super-preemie is still trying to get his body to behave. But he is Super to us in every other way :-)
