2 Pounds!!!

Our little guy is not so little anymore (it's all relative, you know)? Two pounds is a really big stepping stone in our minds! It's cute because you can start to see some chunk on him, so he's becoming more baby by the minute.
Colin is having another good run now. The edema has basically resolved, his blood labs including electrolyte panel have been normal, and we're now counting the hours to when he gets his IV line removed. He's still getting his bradys, apneas and desats, but they are manageable.
Last night we did our second room air trial, so it was daddy's turn to do Kangaroo. There is simply nothing more special than to hold him close - it just melts my heart. Colin, as you read this (several years from now), understand that things change and you will no longer have me wrapped around your little finger! Strict rules will apply, and they are subject to change at any moment just to keep you on your toes. Understand, Little Buddy? So enjoy this now while you can ;-) Yeah, right!
Okay, so back to Kangaroo: Colin would make these little grunts, if you will, as he would snuggle in to me. Just hearing those little noises was so unbelievable. He did extremely well with his second room air trial, and then decided to have a little fun with us: he held his breath until his monitors went off! All of a sudden, there was no movement from him and the alarms began sounding. It was a little scary to say the least. I started patting him on his back while mommy and the nurse came to assist. He started to breath again after a few seconds and his vitals stabilized. As we all started sighing with relief, Colin burst out with a big belly laugh as if to say, "I tricked you - suckers"! What a little prankster. Colin, you'll pay for that one of these days ;-)
