Determination Wins Out

There he was in the middle of the night, clutching his feeding tube. An undoubted protest from having to get that thing inserted yet again. I know, he got it removed yesterday. However, the nurse taking care of him noticed he appeared tired for one of his assessments yesterday afternoon, and she didn't want to wear him out. Still sleeping, she inserted the tube back in. Uh oh. Colin awoke a betrayed little man, mad at what was going down. So mad that the nurse had no choice but to give him his bottle, despite replacing the feeding tube. Tired, he was not! The bottle appeased him, and back off to sleep he went. The thinking was the nurse would keep the tube in place just to be safe in case he wasn't active for feeding time. Yeah, right. :-) Needless to say, the tube is out yet again. Our little man won :-)
It was way too cute last night when Ania and I went to visit. The nurse was finishing up her assessment of him, and it was time for his bottle. Now. Mom and Dad tried to console him. He stopped his rant for a milisecond to acknowledge that the parents had arrived, then it was back to the drama of no bottle. Mom held Colin and the bottle was finally given. What we saw next was downright mesmerizing: our little man turned into an animal! He attacked that bottle with vigor; grunting and determined to down that liquid gold in record time. Normally, he sweetly takes the bottle and quietly eats. Not this time. It's the first time I've ever been afraid of a 3 pound baby. Neither of us wanted to remove the bottle for fear it might cost us an eye or a tooth from retaliatory sucker punch to the face from Colin. Nothing was getting in between Colin and that bottle. Nothing. And I love it! :-)

I remember when the girls were little they literally attacked me -- even their faces resembled little aggressive creatures out for the kill. I'm picturing Colin doing the same. That is such a sign of energy, enthusiasm and health. I couldn't be happier for you.

How about "Bottle and the Beast" or "Milk and I "?

From what I see ( thanks to daddy's great description of the latest 'family event' ) I gather that our sweet little angel is turning into chunky one with a monster's appetite. Let's face it, we all 'created' Him -- little cute lovable monster with a lot of angelical qualities.
We love him for that.

May God bless him for him and may God bless you, dear parents, for loving him the way you do.

Love is all around Colin, love is in every word that you say that pertains to him.
God loves you for that single quality, and frankly, so do I.
