Weight and See

How frustrating. Colin lost weight again yesterday. The explanation? He expends a lot of calories when bottle feeding since he's still so small. Maybe, but the worry is starting once again. What if that isn't it? So, the new game plan is to discontinue the bottle feeds and just feed him via the NG tube for several days to see if his weight comes up. Instead of feeding over 1 hour, it'll now be compressed to 30 minutes which should give him that "full" feeling - and will mimic the sensation he gets when he bottle feeds, without burning excess calories. They've also slightly increased the amount of milk he gets now, to 23 cc's. We hope this works. Something has got to, and soon.
Some of his labs came back too. One worrisome finding is his TSH level is higher than before. This indicates possible hypothyroidism - a serious issue for babies since this can lead to developmental problems. We'll get more information on why this is elevated and what, if any, treatment will be recommended hopefully later today.
We're so greatful for everything we've gotten thus far, and we're hopeful that this is just another small bump in the road. Patience truly is a virtue!
